The International Student Office at Tech provides information necessary for the University's international
students and faculty through services such as
orientation and immigration advising. Apart from these,
the Office also emphasizes adequately on community relations, personal advising, and social/cultural
programming.
The Office has a
Coffee Hour every Friday to bring together all international students and Americans -
one can stop by to taste a great coffee (sometimes international varieties) and cake, and also get to meet
new people and make friends.
The
International Student Association (ISA), a student organization on the campus that works hand in hand
with the ISO, also sponsors various social and educational programs throughout the year, including
Dessert Social during the Fall, where desserts from across the globe are made and shared with
the Tech Community, and
International Day during Spring, an annual campus event held to showcase
international food and culture to the local community. The
International Scholarship Dinner is
organized every year to raise scholarships for international students, and is our biggest event involving
several people at Tech and also the local community of Ruston.
The International Student Office conducts an
Orientation program that is mandatory for all new
international students and is held before registration for that academic quarter. This program helps
students become acquainted with the university and the town of Ruston. In addition, important immigration
information is presented during the Orientation.
